WW: Updates, Things Ive Learned, Motivation
Weekly Wisdom
Our fifth episode of the podcast will be posted on Sunday this week, and I’m incredibly excited to continue to make these. The fact it has already been over a month since we began the show blows my mind. My goal for this week is to make it the best one yet. This week’s topic will be manipulation. Writing out an outline for the show, researching, and coming up with topics has brought much joy, and I’m excited to share our hard work with you all.
I’ve been finding ways to improve my communication skills throughout the week, and one thing stuck out to me. The tip was to ask ChatGPT for the one hundred most interesting questions professionally and talk to yourself for twenty minutes each day. I tried this on my morning walk and came up with much better answers than I thought I would, even without necessarily being familiar with the topic. One of the other tips I heard was to stop judging yourself when you speak and it doesn’t come out “right.” A quote that helped me with this mindset was:
“You can never say the wrong thing to the right person, but you can never say the right thing to the wrong person.”
Suppose someone is going to judge you for making a mistake, then you shouldn’t take advice from them anyway because they will judge you even if you speak with perfect grammar. Overall, the goal is to communicate more every week because the more you do something, the better you get at it.
“The best baptism of fire for learning how to communicate is to speak into the camera by yourself because no one is coming to save you” - Chris Williamson.
For those starting something new and questioning if you should continue or not, keep going. Being discouraged is a part of the process; every time I’ve finished one of the shows, I feel terrible about it. I feel as if I could’ve done better or said things a better way. When I watch it back, I realize I’m just being hard on myself. Keep trying and keep improving, and the discouragement will go away. I see minor improvements daily, which excites me to make another one. If you suck at something, that doesn’t mean you should quit, it means you should keep moving forward.
I appreciate everyone who has read through this whole thing and look forward to writing more.
